Disney has appointed Karandeep Anand as its first-ever Chief Technology Officer (CTO), despite a past intellectual property dispute where Disney sent Character.AI a cease-and-desist letter in September 2025 for hosting unauthorized versions of its copyrighted characters. Anand, who previously served as CEO of Character.AI, founded the AI chatbot company in 2021.
