Some threatened species may miss out as zoos try to balance conservation efforts with competing pressures
A study by researchers at Nottingham Trent University found that some threatened species may be overlooked as zoos balance conservation efforts with other pressures. Analyzing over 7,200 species across 613 zoos in 72 countries over 30 years, the team compared changes in zoo animal holdings with species' conservation status, trade protections, and breeding programs.
