AI helps detect media bias, informing voters and news consumers

In 2024, a collaborative project from Penn introduced an AI-driven Media Bias Detector. Developed by the Computational Social Science Lab, a joint venture of Penn Engineering, the Annenberg School for Communication, and the Wharton School, this tool uses artificial intelligence to analyze news articles for characteristics such as topic, tone, political lean, and included facts and people. This helps individuals examine how different outlets cover the same events and make informed decisions about their media consumption.
