I made an open-source AI leaderboard that shows the best models your machine can run
Developer Jake Manger has created an open-source AI leaderboard called WhatModel.sh, allowing users to input their RAM and GPU specifications to see which models they can run locally. The tool ranks models based on a single score derived from 19,731 published benchmark results, enabling comparisons with API models. Notably, a 32GB Mac can now run a model that scores as well as GPT-5, entirely locally and for free. The project's methodology is detailed at whatmodel.sh/method, and all code and data are open source on GitHub (github.com/jakemanger/whatmodel). Users can also access the tool via terminal with the command 'curl whatmodel.sh'. Contributions are welcome through a provided bench script.
